🏢 Startup Environment | 🔧 Hands-On Engineering | 🚀 High-Impact Innovation

Sindri Materials operates at The Innovation Space; a premier science and technology incubator located on the historic DuPont Experimental Station campus. This state-of-the-art facility offers world-class research labs, a thriving startup community, and direct access to scientific and technical resources.

About Us

At Sindri Materials, we’re redefining the limits of advanced materials innovation, starting with ultra-high-quality (UHQ) graphene. Our proprietary production methods address longstanding challenges in structural biology, semiconductors, and beyond. Beginning with graphene-based cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM) grids, we aim to transform industries by pushing the boundaries of what materials science can achieve.

As an early-stage startup, we’re seed funded, making this a rare opportunity to join at the ground floor and help shape a company with transformative potential. Our small, agile team is led by world-class experts who combine deep technical knowledge with proven execution.

By joining us now, you’ll be a foundational part of a company that’s poised to transform the landscape of advanced materials science and nanotechnology.

Position Overview

In this role, you will operate Sindri’s proprietary graphene production system, execute precision workflows, and support the creation of ultra-high-quality materials destined for high impact applications. Working closely with our research and engineering team, you will perform process steps, conduct quality evaluations, manage data, and contribute to troubleshooting and process optimization. You will play a key role in scaling our production capabilities, improving workflow efficiency, and maintaining a safe and organized laboratory environment while supporting the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute critical operational and production line workflows including product fabrication and quality control.
  • Perform quality inspections of graphene products using SEM, optical microscopy, and precision imaging tools.
  • Support business growth by facilitating final product deliveries and increasing manufacturing yields.
  • Support packaging, labeling, and preparation of graphene products for customer delivery.
  • Track production data, maintain organized logs, and support traceability across workflows.
  • Collaborate with the research and engineering team to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and increase efficiency, yield, and reliability.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of SOPs, safety protocols, and standardized workflows.
  • Conduct inventory tracking and management of materials and consumables.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory environment while supporting general lab management functions.

What You Bring

  • Laboratory Experience - Comfortable working in sensitive, precision driven lab environments with established workflows.
  • Precision Handling Skills - Able to manipulate small materials using gloves, tweezers, and micro-handling techniques in a consistent and repeatable manner.
  • Materials Interest - Strong curiosity or background in materials science, graphene, 2D materials, or related technical fields.
  • Equipment Proficiency - Capable of learning, operating, and maintaining specialized laboratory instrumentation and production equipment.
  • Process Discipline - Able to follow detailed instructions precisely while maintaining high quality and consistency.
  • Problem Solving Mindset - Works collaboratively with scientists and engineers to diagnose issues and improve processes.
  • Startup Mentality - Adaptable, motivated, hands on, and excited to work in a fast-moving and evolving environment.
  • Organizational Strength - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and meticulous in documentation and workflow execution.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in a laboratory setting, preferably involving materials synthesis, precision processes, or chemical handling.
  • Familiarity with cleanroom protocols or controlled lab procedures.
  • Experience performing precise laboratory workflows, experimental procedures, or micro-handling tasks.
  • Excellent organization and meticulous documentation habits.

Preferred:

  • Hands on experience with graphene, 2D materials, or material synthesis.
  • Experience with SEM, optical microscopy, Raman, or other characterization tools.
  • Experience in process scale-up, production environments, or manufacturing support.
  • Exposure to developing SOPs or improving lab workflows.

Work Environment & Schedule Expectations

  • This is a full-time, in-person position based in Wilmington, Delaware.
  • Sindri Materials fosters a high-performance, results-driven, and collaborative environment, prioritizing efficiency over exhausting work hours.
  • While this role requires commitment, we emphasize productivity and meaningful contributions over excessive hours of unfocused work.
